Robbers kill man on resistance

LAHORE :Robbers gunned down a 58-year-old man on resistance in the Qila Gujjar Singh area on Thursday.


Robbers shot and wounded Sadique of Abdul Karim Road on resistance, looted cash and fled. The victim was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Police have removed the body to morgue and registered a case against unidentified robbers.


commits suicide: A 32-year-old woman committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Factory Area police jurisdiction on Thursday.


The deceased woman was identified as Salma bibi of Walton Road, Factory Area. It was reported that the woman had got infuriated after having an exchange of harsh words with her husband over a domestic issue, locked herself up in a room and took poisonous pills. She was taken to hospital where she breathed her last.


rewarded: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Captain ® Arif Nawaz Khan distributed cash awards worth Rs 2,750,000 among 61 police officers for their bravery.


A ceremony was held to acknowledge the tremendous service of 61 police officers/officials of nine districts at Central Police Office on Thursday. The provincial police chief lauded the acts of bravery by the the police officers. He expressed the hope that they would continue to perform their duties with zeal for elimination of heinous crimes and maintenance of law and order in the province.


Emergency Services: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt-General Omar Mahmood Hayat visited the Provincial Monitoring Cell established to ensure uniform standards of service in all districts of Punjab.


The NDMA chairman visited the Emergency Services Academy and he saw the hands-on training being imparted to the rescuers. Lt-General Omar Mahmood Hayat lauded the performance of the academy.


He was briefed on the monitoring system which included visual monitoring of control rooms, fleet management and tracking system, citizen feedback and the overall emergency data.


dies: A man from Czech Republic died in a hotel in the Racecourse police area on Thursday.


The deceased was identified as Raska. Police said that he accidentally slipped from the stairs, resulting in serious injuries to him. He was removed to hospital where he died. Police ruled out the possibility of murder and removed the body to morgue.


found dead: A 54-year-old man died in mysterious circumstances in his house in the Data Darbar area on Thursday. The deceased man identified as Allah Rakha who hailed from Faisalabad. Police suspected that the man might have died of cardiac seizure.


Meanwhile, Data Darbar police found a body of a 30-year-old man. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict. They suspected he might have died of an overdose of drugs. The bodies have been removed to morgue.


reclaimed: Owing to the intervention of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, 11 properties of expatriate Pakistanis worth Rs 150 million were reclaimed from illegal occupants during the last week.


According to a press release, this was said by OPC Vice-Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti while chairing a weekly meeting of officers.


They said that the properties located in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Gujrat, Multan and Rahimyar Khan districts were under illegal occupation. OPC with the help of district overseas Pakistanis committees got the properties vacated and handed over their possession to their owners.
