KOHAT: The police arrested 34 suspected persons, including six proclaimed offenders, during search in Afghan Refugees’ camp and adjacent areas here on Sunday, official sources said.
They said that the police launched search operation in Afghan Refugees’ camp and Sher Ali Banda and Muslimabad localities and arrested six proclaimed offenders identified as Tariq Mehmood, Tanveer Ahmad, Naeem, Ashraf and Anwarul Haq. Six rifles and several cartridges were also seized from them, an official said, adding that they were wanted by the law-enforcement agencies in cases of heinous nature.
The police also booked eight owners of the houses and hotels for not meeting the legal requirements. “Two Afghan nationals identified as Mian Gul and Gul Janan were also arrested for living illegally in the camp,” an official added.
The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. DSP also inspected the security measures of 20 schools and colleges in the district and directed the administrations of the schools to improve the security arrangements.
