SUKKUR: Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had said that he would accept the verdict of the Supreme Court in the PanamaLeaks case but now he was backtracking on his statement.

Speaking to the media here, he said the former prime minister must live up to his word and accept the apex court verdict. Khursheed weighed in on the country’s foreign policy and remarked that it had failed to make an impact. He said Pakistan had been fighting terrorists from the start, yet it was being called a terrorist state.

“Now the failure of foreign policies has come to the forefront,” said Khursheed Shah claiming that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had stated repeatedly that there was a desperate need for a foreign minister in the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) government.

Khursheed Shah claimed that the PPP had worked tremendously to improve the lives of people in Sindh.  “People’s incomes witnessed 125 per cent increase under the PPP government,” he said.

Earlier, on Sunday while addressing an Eid gathering here, he said Pakistan had paid a heavy price in the war against terrorism. “Pakistan has been fighting terrorism from the start. We need to remind the world of Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism,” remarked the PPP leader.

“About 20,000 soldiers and 60,000 civilians have lost their lives in the fight against terrorism. We need to think why the United States is always threatening Pakistan,” he said.
