ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted to amend the Constitution to legitimise the Sharif family’s corruption.

Speaking on the proposed constitutional amendments by the government here on Tuesday, Imran warned the ruling party to refrain from amending the Constitution and stated that it was extremely disgraceful how the PML-N wanted to bring constitutional amendment to articles 62 and 63 simply to legitimise the Sharif family’s corruption.

He added that the ruling party basically wanted to give a legal cover to the Sharif family’s unbridled corruption. He cautioned the government stating that people will resist these amendments and will come out on the streets.

“Bridging the environment gap through Billion Tree Tsunami and exceeding Bonn Challenge shows the KP government’s extraordinary commitment to the nation,” he said about the tree plantation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Imran applauded the KP government for successfully completing the arduous task of planting billion trees in the province through the Billion Tree Tsunami Project. Imran stated that environment was never a priority of past governments which resulted in environmental degradation and grotesque timber mafia which was ruining the green pastures of the province.

Chief Minister KP Pervaiz Khattak and forest department’s efforts were commendable in fighting timber mafia and making this dream of planting billion trees successful, he said. “CM KP and his team resolved to bring about change even though five people of the forest department lost their lives and many injured for the cause”, Imran said.

He went on to add that jungles of Changa Manga, Chichawatni and Rajanpur are devastated by the elites for their personal interests which itself is an alarming situation and posed a threat to our future generations.
