KARACHI: Police and law-enforcing agencies (LEAs) Tuesday could not get any clue to the mysterious abduction of Hayat Baloch, son of Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, special assistant to Sindh chief minister.

Unidentified persons on the night between Monday and Tuesday kidnapped Hayat Baloch from Karachi’s Gadap Town near Baqai Medical Hospital, when he was on his way to Defence from his native village Haji Faqeer Muhammad Wadhelo, Malir.

Locals told The News that Ghulam Murtaza had some differences with a builder and an influential police officer. This information has been conveyed to the Sindh government high-ups for necessary action and early recovery of Hayat.

Hayat Baloch, who is getting his education in London, has reached Karachi some days back. He was with his cousin Akhlaq Ahmed and other family members when some persons intercepted his vehicle and took him along. Some accomplices of the kidnappers kept other members of family restricted to the vehicle at gunpoint for two hours and then fled the scene.

Inspector General of Police Sindh AD Khowaja told The News that Hayat Baloch could have been kidnapped for ransom and the Police Department was working on the case. He said the police would recover him safely very soon.

Senior Superintendent of Police Malir Rao Anwar said a complaint had been lodged with Gadap police station and an investigation had been launched with the help of Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, special assistant to Sindh chief minister, informed the media that he did not have any enmity with anyone and he did not receive any call for ransom.
