LAHORE: Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad has said that no major changes have been introduced to textbooks of class 1 to 10, published by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook BOARD (PCTB) and dispelled the impression that certain changes were made in chapters on Islam, Pakistan and the Pakistan Army.
Addressing a press conference at the PCTB office, he said no one could claim to be a Muslim without having a firm belief in the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said chapters on Hazrat Ai (RA), Hazrat Khadija (RA), Eid Milad-un-Nabi and sanctity of mosques were still part of the syllabus. Only that material has been rearranged which was repetitive, instead more chapters have been added to the syllabus, he claimed.
He said a committee had also been constituted under the chairmanship of Schools Education Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik who will prepare a report on rumours of deletion of certain contents from the textbooks. Earlier, different student organisations including ITT and IJT had protested.
