MANSEHRA: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan would cry if he continued holding public meetings across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were two faces of the same coin and claimed that his party would win the next general elections in 2018. “I want to make it clear to those who have doubts about the next election. The current parliament would complete its term and the general elections would be held on time. We would emerge victorious as the PTI and PML-N are cheating people,” he told a news conference in Kaghan. He said the PML-N always cheated the PPP.

Earlier, Bilawal addressed a public meeting for hardly four minutes and spent most of his  time admiring his party’s office-bearers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It left the public astonished who had gathered in a large number to hear him on current political situation in the country.

He told reporters that his party respected the verdicts delivered by the apex court against his party leadership and those who were now deviating from the legal course should avoid doing so. He made a veiled reference to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s criticism of the Supreme Court and other national institutions.

“I don’t want to say much on internal family conflict of the Sharif family but I would rather suggest that everyone should respect the apex court’s verdicts in letter and spirit,” Bilawal said.

He made it clear that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be completed in time as, he said, it was not an agreement between a family and a country, rather it was signed by two countries -- Pakistan and China. Bilawal said the apex committee of parliament that held its meetings in Sindh about law and order should also hold a meeting on the killings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.

The PPP chairman said that democracy didn’t face any threat as rulers come and go, but democracy would remain intact. “Terrorists always targeted the PPP and its leaders. We are ready to face them, as this is our country, not theirs,” Bilawal said.

Bilawal said Imran Khan should not be worried about his popularity in KP. “The PPP initiated the nuclear programme and launched the Benazir Income Support Programme to support poor families,” he said.

The PPP chairman said that Imran Khan would be welcomed in Sukkur and Sindh as they were never afraid of his election campaign. He said that public meetings in Mansehra and Kaghan were successful as these events attracted a huge number of people.
