Sweets distributed at Pak-Afghan border

LANDIKOTAL: Pakistan’s border force officials on Saturday presented a bouquet of flowers and sweets to their Afghan counterparts as a gift on the occasion of the Independence Day of Afghanistan.

Lieutenant Colonel Mubashir of the Khyber Rifles congratulated the Afghan border security officials on their country’s Independence Day behalf of Inspector General Frontier Corps, Major General Mazhar Shaheen and presented them sweets and flowers.

On the occasion, a ceremony was held at Torkham border that was attended by Afghan and Pakistani military and civilian officials and a large number of citizens. 

Strict security arrangements had been made to avoid any untoward incident. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Pakistani officials said they would work to strengthen relations between the two neighbouring Islamic countries.

An army official said that the armed forces of Pakistan were committed to eliminating terrorism in its all forms and manifestation with the coordination and support of the stakeholders, including Afghanistan.

Afghan border security forces official, Mohammad Qaseem, thanked Pakistani officials, particularly the Pakistan Army and the Khyber Rifles for the goodwill gesture.

He said exchange of gifts and close coordination between the border personnel of the two countries would help strengthen ties between their countries.
