KP CM directs GDA to finalise rules of business
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) to finalise the rules of business required for fast development of the scenic area.
“The absence of rules is a big handicap in development of the area,” he told a high-level meeting at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here.
Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Idrees, Chief of Strategic Support Unit Sahibzada Saeed, secretary local government, and other officers concerned were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister directed to publicise the construction of approach road to the town as a project so that the spadework on it could be initiated with immediate effect, said a handout.
Briefing the meeting about the rules of business of the authority, GDA Town and progress with respect to the changes in the GDA Act, it was revealed that two amendments had been proposed. It was added that the revised draft of the rules of business was also ready. “Four types of rules including the building control and tribunal rules have been framed,” the meeting was told.
The chief minister directed to send the revised draft of the rules to Law Department for vetting and added that the summary of the proposed amendments should be sent forthwith.
The participants of the meeting were informed that land had been identified for GDA Town for which a road needed to be constructed. The chief minister on this occasion directed to advertise the developmental work and the proposed road as a single project. He warned that no hurdle should be created in development of the area. He was informed two among the total 49 rest-houses in the area were under the control of Local Government. The chief minister on directed to hand over the two rest-houses to the GDA and added that a summary to this effect should be sent with immediate effect.
