Man ‘tortured’ by Lahore Police dies

LAHORE: A youth, who was allegedly tortured by police on the eve of Independence Day in Garden Town, succumbed to injuries at Jinnah Hospital on Saturday.
Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. Police have also taken accused policemen into custody. The victim Zohaib’s family has alleged that policemen had demanded bribe from him and over refusal they pushed him down in the underpass from the bridge. As a result, he received injuries. He was shifted to hospital where he passed away. Police have added section 302 of PPC in the already registered FIR and took ASI Khalid and two other cops into custody.
SP Model Town had also held an inquiry into the incident to reveal the real story. He said the accused persons will not be spared.
