LONDON: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen has said that he has not visited London twice in three weeks to deal with matters related to his offshore shell called ‘Shiny View Limited’.

Jahangir Tareen reached in London at the end of July and stayed for four days and left for Pakistan on 3rd of August. He is now back in London – having arrived here four days ago. Sources in PTI have told The News that Jahangir Tareen has held meetings in London with his lawyers and accountants regarding his offshore company which Mr Tareen accepted owning after the Panama scandal broke out. Shiny View Limited’s case is now before the Supreme Court and Jahangir Tareen has been asked to provide money-trail and the properties he – or his children – own through this offshore company.

Jahangir Khan Tareen has admitted to having an offshore company registered in the name of his four children who own property in the UK and the offshore company linked with this property is managed through a trust.

Speaking to The News, Jahangir Tareen said that his London visits are not in connection with his offshore company’s case in the Supreme Court. He said that he was in London for much-needed break to relax after doing a “lot of hard and hectic job in Pakistan”.

“My visits have nothing to do with the SC case. It’s a private visit as I just wanted to relax and enjoy the life for couple of days here in London”.

He said he was not in London to make any arrangements regarding his offshore company or to meet any person in connection with his case. “I have provided each and every fact and figure with evidence to the court.”

Jahangir Tareen has accepted owning properties in
London and Canada but has not provided details or those properties as yet and a PTI source said he was making arrangements about that ahead of the Supreme Court hearing. He has maintained that his children own these properties and they are grown ups and eligible to do business privately.

Responding to the question, Jahangir Tareen said he sold his Canada property “quite a long time ago”.

“As far my London business, all is declared and on the record and I have not hidden anything,” he said.

Jahangir Tareen said his opponents make allegations against but don’t have substance to back up their claims.

“During my London visits, I have collected evidence which has been helpful to courts in Pakistan and has played a major role,” he said in reference to the PTI’s Panama case.
