Sharea Faisal police claimed to have killed two alleged robbers in an encounter in Gulistan-e-Jauhar late on Friday night.

SHO Imtiaz Meer Jatt said the suspects were planning a robbery at Kamran Chowrangi when a police mobile on patrolling reached there. The suspects opened straight fire at the police mobile and tried to escape on a motorcycle.

When the police gave a chase, the robbers fired gunshots at their mobile, with bullets hitting the vehicle. The law enforcers returned fire at a place situated between Gulistan-e-Jauhar’s Block 11 and Block 12.

The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examinations. The corpses of the unknown robbers were then moved to a mortuary.

On Saturday, Karachi AIG Ghulam Qadir announced Rs 50,000 for the police party, who were engaged in the encounter.
