No need to overthrow KP govt now
CHAKDARRA: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Ameer Haider Hoti on Friday said his party was not in favour of bringing a no-confidence motion against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtun-khwa government.
“There is no need for overthrowing the provincial government under the present circumstances. We should not give any reason to the PTI which it can use as a victim card in the next general election,” he told reporters here.
He said the PTI ministers and lawmakers were levelling allegations of corruption against each other, including Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
The nationalist politician, who is also a former chief minister, said there were differences among PTI leaders and the party would face crushing defeat in the next polls.
He claimed the PTI chief Imran Khan was not satisfied with the performance of his party-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and trying to become a political martyr in the province so that he can use the victim card to win the support of voters in Punjab,” he added.
He said the PTI started targeting and insulting Member National Assembly Ayesha Gulalai to silent her after her revelations. He said the allegation made by Ayesha Gulalai should be investigated.
The ANP leader said political tension was rising in the country day by day, adding some vested interest wanted confrontation among various state institutions to create crises because it favoured them.
About the proposal of a grand national dialogue made by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, he asked as to why he was talking of such a dialogue after he was ousted by the court in the Panama Papers case.
He said that people started talking of national dialogue when they find themselves in a tight corner.
Criticising the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq for what he argued his double standards, Haider Hoti said that he was using the Article 62, 63 of the Constitution for political point-scoring.
“Sirajul Haq did not remember these articles to judge whether Imran Khan is honest and sagacious,” he added.
