Two hospital employees suspended in Swabi
SWABI: Two employees of the Kalu Khan Civil Hospital were suspended from service after people protested against alleged immoral activities involving women on the premises of the health facility.
When contacted, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Niaz Muhammad said that they had suspended the watchmen, Tajamul and Fazlullah.
He warned that none of the employees would be allowed to use the hospital premises for immoral activities.
A committee was constituted to investigate the issue and report to the DHO so that further action could be taken.
The issue had infuriated people of the area who staged a protest demonstration and blocked Swabi-Mardan road for almost two hours while chanting slogans against the staff and alleged immoral activities on the premises of the hospital.
Leading the protesting people, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Muhammad Ishfaq said that the hospital was a venue where people from all walks of life come for treatment every day, and such incidents could not be tolerated there.
Later, the protesters dispersed when they were assured that action would be taken against the suspended employees in the light of the report of the committee. The hospital is located in the constituency of Health Minister Shahram Tarakai.
