MIRANSHAH: The protest camp, set up by the landowners of Miranshah Bazaar in North Waziristan to seek control of their land, continued for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters at the protest camp, Malik Sabir Nawaz, Farooq Khan,
Ahmad Khan and others said that the houses, shops and other properties in Zafar Town and Miranshah Bazaar were completely destroyed during the military operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan.
They said though the security forces reconstructed the market, the owners were not given the possession of the shops.
The tribesmen said the bazaar was the private property of local tribe people and ownership of the shops was their right.
They said the market and other land in the area was the property of tribespeople and should be returned to them. The tribesmen demanded compensation for the losses they had suffered in the military operations.
They also demanded the government to resume the operation of provision of relief items to the families which were not allowed to return to native areas.
The tribesmen vowed to continue their protest till acceptance of their demands.
