Failing to remove faults in Institute of Kidney Diseases: Shahbaz suspends Buildings Dept officials
MUZAFFARGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif suspended the Buildings Department SE, XEN and SDO for failing to remove faults at the Institute of Kidney Diseases during his visit on Wednesday.
He visited the Institute of Kidney Diseases on Sher Shah Road and inspected health facilities being provided to the patients. The patients complained to the CM about lack of free medicines. Shahbaz Sharif expressed concern over unhygienic washrooms and unavailability of water. He said that negligence in provision of healthcare facilities would not be tolerated. After the inspection, the CM suspended SE, XEN and SDO and ordered the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
Later, talking to journalists, the chief minister said that the facility of kidney transplant would soon be made available at the Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases. He expressed dissatisfaction over non-provision of free medicines to some patients as the Punjab government was providing huge funds to the institute for the purpose. He directed the administration to reimburse those patients, who had purchased medicines from the market.
He said that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) would check the record of drug store to determine how many patients purchased medicines from the pharmacy during the last two months. He said the Punjab government was providing 100pc free treatment at the institute.
Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq, MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, Mayor Ch Naveedul Haq, Commissioner Bilal Ahmad, RPO Sultan Azam and other officials were also present.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the Turkish government had always supported whenever Pakistan became a victim of natural disasters. During a visit to the Tayyip Erdogan Hospital near Baseera, Muzaffargarh, the CM said that the hospital’s extension work would be completed by December 25, which would increase the number of beds to 250. He said that the hospital was already providing health facilities to the patients of the remote areas of south Punjab. He said that the hospital’s first phase would be completed by January 15, 2018.
After completion of expansion plan, the hospital would be given the status of a medical college, he added. He said that there would be no compromise on the quality of the work and it would be inspected as well as evaluated by the third party. He said that the PML-N government had abolished VIP culture in the country.
Later, the CM visited the Emine Erdogan Danish Care Girls School and inspected its different parts. He said that it was very unfortunate that the poor and the rich were being treated separately in the country. He expressed his determination to end this difference.
