IIU, University Academic Stafff Association agree on collaboration

Islamabad: The International Islamic University and Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association agreed to collaborate and hold a conference on ‘higher education and services of teacher in the society’ on the main IIU campus.

This was decided in a meeting between IIU Rector Prof Masoom Yasinzai and a FAPUASA delegation on the new campus of the university. Both sides agreed that the conference would be held on Oct 5 to commemorate the World Teachers’ Day and themes such as academic freedom, post-18th Amendment scenario, research and higher education would be discussed in the conference, while the FAPUASA would invite teachers and relevant people, and the IIU being the host would invite vice-chancellors of the universities, HEC officials and parliamentarians.

“The event will be a meaningful and constructive activity as heads of the top varsities and known academicians will recommend ways to strengthen the domain of education and devise strategies to further improve the educational standards and facilities at varsities of Pakistan,” said the IIU rector.

He also said IIU President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh would be the patron-in-chief of the conference. The delegation members hailed the IIU and its efforts for betterment of higher education. The delegation members included FAPUASA President Dr Kaleemullah Bareach, Secretary Dr Shakeel Farooqi, Sindh University Teacher Association President Dr Azhar Ali Shah and Balochistan University's Muhammad Qasim Kasi.
