City turns green and white

LAHORE :Citizens thronged roads to celebrate 70th Independence Day with traditional festivity as all important buildings were decorated and lit up in green, white and other colours.

The late night celebrations started with fireworks at different places while city roads were full of decorated cars, flags, buntings while silencer-less motorcycles were making their way among the crowd. Many youngsters were seen doing wheelie on the roads and policemen were running after them. 

Monday's celebrations will start with flag-hoisting at Minar-e-Pakistan, Mazar-e-Iqbal, Jinnah Hall, Wapda House, Army and Rangers Headquarters and Wagah Border. Meanwhile, the Walled City of Lahore Authority has launched a new type of tourism “Azadi Tours”. These tours are starting from Delhi Gate and ending at Lahore Fort. The route has many attractions like Shahi Hammam, Masjid Wazir Khan, Haveli Mian Sultan, Haveli Dina Nath and Bej Nath, Well of Dina Nath, Wazir Khan Chowk, Sonehri Mosque, Baoli Bagh, Rang Mehal Chowk, Tomb of Malik Ayyaz, Pani Wala Talab and Lahore Fort.

Fatima Afzal, a local tourist said she saw these advertisements on social media and gathered my friends for this tour.  Mehmood Karim, another tourist said he have come from USA for vacation here with some foreign friends. Going through social media I found this interesting tour and immediately booked it. I wanted to show my foreign friends how we celebrate Independence and that we are a peaceful and united nation. 

Meanwhile, WCLA also inaugurated a singing and Qawali festival at Chowk Wazir Khan on late hours of Sunday in which a large number of citizens participated.
