LAHORE

Although it was weekend but due to closure of majority of roads in the provincial metropolis, leading to Data Darbar for security purposes, presented a deserted look on Saturday till evening.

It was also observed that majority of Lahorites preferred staying at home till the evening to avoid any sort of altercation with the law enforcement agencies deployed at various points of small arteries leading to the main point of the procession. However, a large number of PML-N supporters, including youths, came out on roads in the evening to participate in the rally.

Some charged workers and supporters of PML-N were seen roaming the city on bike and cars with their party flags in their hands and chanting slogans in favour of the ousted PM.

On the other hand, markets and shopping malls on The Mall, Mcleod Road and on other roads adjacent to the central point of rally, Data Darbar, remained opened but with slow business activities. Some shops were also closed due to the PML-N rally. Traders also closed their businesses at Bilal Ganj market soon after the rally started entering Lahore from Shahdara.

Not a lot of families were witnessed marching towards the main point of the rally whole day.

Although the rally was culminating two days before the Independence Day, majority of the participants didn’t carry Pakistan's national flags. They turned up for the rally only with party flags.
