IMCG (PG) F-7/4 holds competitions

70th Independence Day celebrations began with full zeal and enthusiasm at Islamabad Model College for Girls (PG) F-7/4, Islamabad, in collaboration with Federal Directorate of Education and Quami Yakjehti Council of Pakistan.

Hasnat Ahmad Qureshi, Director General, Federal Directorate of Education was the chief guest of the function, says a press release.

Director (Colleges) Iftikhar Rao, Director Model Colleges Dr Tariq Maqsood and Chairman Qaumi Yakjhti Council Nasim Ahmad Usmani, Principal Miss Sauleha Jabeen, faculty members and large number of students attended the function.

On 1st day (Thursday), national song competition was held. The function started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Ms Swera Shahbaz followed by Ms Tehmina Arshad. A total of 8 groups from different colleges participated in the functions and presented beautiful and melodious national songs. Students enchanted slogans and waved national flag.

Ms Tehmina Arshad group from IMCG (PG), F-7/4, clinched first prize, while second prize went to Ms Suleha Kiran group from IMCG I-10/4 and Ms Laraib group of IMCG F-7/2 declared third.

The chief guest on the occasion said that each student had to participate at individual level for the development of the country by contributing his/her effort for creating better and prosperous Pakistan. He quoted John F Kennedy “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” He said that a teacher play vital role in grooming the personality of a student. “We educate student to be successful in their professional field but the teacher and the institution should also focus on character and personality building of the student for the better citizen of the society”, he added.

On 2nd day of celebrations, Urdu speech competition was held. Vice Admiral Shah Maqsood Sohail of Pakistan Navy was the chief guest of the event. The function started with the recitation of versus from Holy Quran by Ms Swera Shahbaz followed by Naat by Ms Aneela Bibi.

Students of Islamabad Model Colleges participated in the functions. The topic of speech competition was ‘Aj ka Pakistan aur Hum’.

The chief guest while addressing the participants said that today we are living happily and enjoying freedom only due to hard work and struggle of our leaders who rendered their lives to get independent country for us. He said we need to develop a system to build a better nation. As a Pakistani we need to realise that Pakistan was established in the name of Islam. We need to take steps ahead to make the country a homeland of prosperity. He urged the participants to make efforts for glorifying the mission of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Later the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners. Rimsha Naz from IMCG, F-7/4 Islamabad won 1st prize while 2nd prize clinched by Dua- e-Zohra from IMCG I-8/3 and Noor Fatima of IMCG I-10/4 took 3rd prize.

In the end principal thanked the chief guest and presented him college souvenir.
