LAHORE: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Tuesday Nawaz Sharif was told time and again to give respect to the institution which had given him strength by electing him as the prime minister. He was talking to the media in Kasur after offering condolences to Pakistan People’s Party Central Secretary Information Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad on the death of his mother.
Khursheed said no conspiracy was hatched against Nawaz Sharif, and the Panama Papers case verdict was a routine verdict given by the apex court after following a due course. He said Nawaz should accept the Supreme Court verdict. Such verdict had been given in the past also, which were accepted by all. He said today Nawaz Sharif also agrees with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto that people were the real source of power.
The opposition leader said had Nawaz Sharif implemented the Charter of Democracy (CoD), he would have not moved the SC against the PPP in Memogate scandal. He said contacting the public through peaceful rallies and public meetings was right of every political party. He said the ethics committee formed by the National Assembly speaker should initiate its work immediately and complete it at the earliest, so that we could move towards the real issues. He regretted that some people had diverted the attention of the parliament from its real work to their personal matters.
Saad was of the view that the battle of politics should be fought solely through political means
