ISLAMABAD: Mehdi e Barhaq conference here on Sunday called for forging greater unity to defeat the imperialist forces, actively pursuing sinister designs to create and fan disunity among Muslims.

Speakers, hailing from various political and religious parties attended the conference to mark the 29th martyrdom anniversary of Allama Arif Hussain Al-Hussaini here at Parade Ground. The event, organised by Majlis Wahdat e Muslimeen (MWM), was attended by a large number of people, including women and children, braving hot and humid weather.

Speaking on the occasion MWM Secretary General Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jaffary said that awaiting the Mehdi e Barhaq was a shared belief of all the Muslims. He added Allama Arif Hussaini spent his life for Muslim unity and articulated the identification of the imperialist forces, which were opposed to Islam and its followers. He said that Allama Hussaini was martyred, as it was impossible to discontinue his activities.

He lamented that the Takfeeri forces were encouraged to weaken the Sunni and Shia forces in Pakistan. He alleged Shia youth was being picked from their homes by the state institutions.

Allama Jaffary maintained that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been disqualified by the Supreme Court so he must not be made a hero before the nation. He advised the ruling PML-N to remain loyal to Pakistan and not Nawaz.

He made it clear that the moral and political support to the oppressed people of Palestine, Kashmir, Yemen and Bahrain would continue. “Those behind the Model Town massacre will have to be held accountable one day,” he emphasised.

Sahibzada Ahmad Raza of Sunni Ittehad Council, Allama Amin Shaheedi of MWM, JUP’s (Niazi) Masoom Naqvi, Jamiat Ulema Islam’s Usman Noori and others also spoke on the occasion. Free food and drinking water was distributed during the conference.
