PESHAWAR: The protest camp staged by the United Municipal Workers Union and City District and All Towns Peshawar against the merger of fire brigade into Rescue 1122 continued on the second consecutive day on Thursday.
The camp has been set up outside the office of the Peshawar District Nazim Muhammad Asim Khan. Malik Naveed Awan and Riaz Khan are leading the camp.
A number of politicians, labour leaders and social figures visited the camp to express solidarity with the workers.
The labour unions representatives said the government had issued a notification to merge the fire brigade department with the Rescue 1122 without announcing any service structure and other service-related issues. They demanded a review of the decision.
