The 726th National Day of the Swiss Confederation was celebrated at a hotel on Tuesday. The event was largely attended by the elite of the town, the bureaucracy, and the media. Swiss Consul General in Karachi Philippe Crevoisier recounted the 70 fruitful years of Pak-Swiss ties.
He reminded the audience that, at present, there were 25 Swiss companies operating in Pakistan with about 80 agents. He lauded the activities of the Swiss Business Council (SBC) in giving a fillip to Pak-Swiss business ties.
Later, in an informal chat with The News, he said that the trade turnover between Pakistan and Switzerland was to the tune of half-a-billion dollars and it was hoped that the volume would increase in the future.
