Bid to smuggle drugs thwarted
LANDIKOTAL: The Khassadar personnel seized heroin and hashish and arrested two people in separate actions here on Sunday, a senior official said.
Assistant Political Agent Muhammad Riaz told The News that they had received information that some people would try to smuggle the drugs from Landikotal to Peshawar via Jamrud.
He said the Khassadar personnel at the Prang Sam checkpost stopped a Suzuki van (LED-6350) and recovered 15kg heroin from its hidden cavities.
The official said in the second raid at Bagyari checkpost, they recovered 12kg hashish from a non-custom paid car (354-LKL).
Riaz said that the alleged smugglers identified as Abdul Wahab and Niaz Muhammad, residents of Jamrud, were also arrested.
The official said that in the past several days, they had seized 185kg hashish, 57kg heroin, 50kg opium and ice drug in Jamrud.
