Articles 62,63: Accountability of all and sundry demanded
SWABI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders at a protest rally on Sunday vehemently demanded accountability of leaders of other political parties under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
The demand was made in the wake of the disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case. The PML-N leaders and workers chanting slogans in favour of their ousted leader gathered at the playground of the Government High School, Swabi, and marched to the Karnal Sher Khan Chowk.
They said that despite his disqualification by the Supreme Court, services of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would be remembered forever. They said the nation had voted PML-N to power and Nawaz Sharif steered the country out of crises and economic decline.
The N-leaguers said that Nawaz Sharif was still their leader and they would follow in his footprints because he had served the country during his three terms as prime minister. They alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders only knew about the politics of sit-ins and their leaders didn’t want Pakistan to achieve economic prosperity and industrial development.
The PTI Chairman Imran Khan was pioneer of offshore companies, they said, adding, he should not be overjoyed at the verdict. “I predict that after the upcoming general election, the prime minister would be from the PML-N,” said Liaqat Ahmad Khan, a provincial leader of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Member Provincial Assembly Shiraz Khan said the PTI would suffer an ignominious defeat in the next general election in KP because its leadership had failed to deliver on the election pledges.
Shiraz Akram Bacha, another PML-N leader, said the enthusiasm shown by PML-N workers showed that the party was alive and its workers had the determination to frustrate the efforts meant to harm the country.
