PESHAWAR: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Yasin Khalil on Thursday rejected the allegations levelled against him by former provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi and offered his accountability.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Yasin Khalil, who belongs to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said he had not taken money from anyone to get them jobs in the government departments.

He alleged that one Hussain Qadir, who is a driver in the Rescue 1122 service, used his name when he was advisor to chief minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement and Transport Department in 2013 and received money from people by promising that he would get them recruited.

“I wrote to the director general of Rescue 1122 service when I received complaints against Hussain Qadir on December 2, 2013 and demanded action against him for damaging my reputation,” Yasin Khalil claimed.

He said that he also got registered a first information report (FIR) against Hussain Qadir in a police station and approached the Anti-Corruption Establishment as well. “The name of Hussain Qadir was also put on the Exit Control List so he could not flee the country,” he added.

He showed the copies of the FIR and the letters he wrote to Director General Rescue 1122 and Anti-Corruption Establishment.

“I will resign as member provincial assembly if any charges of corruption are proved against me,” he said.

Yasin Khalil, who was elected MPA from Peshawar in the May 2013 general election, said that Ziaullah Afridi was expelled from the PTI on charges of corruption and was now trying to damage the party’s reputation by accusing PTI lawmakers of wrongdoing.

He said that there was no place for the corrupt in the PTI and Ziaullah Afridi’s case was an example of this policy.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ziaullah Afridi had submitted a motion in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat against alleged corruption by MPA Yasin Khalil and Minister for Sports and Culture Mehmood Khan, who too belongs to the PTI.
