Commando kills robber, injures another in Nazimabad
Karachi: Holding up a police commando for his motorcycle and phone proved fatal for a robber on Thursday as the cop shot one of the two muggers dead.
The incident occurred near the KMC Ground in Nazimabad No 2. According to Gulbahar police SHO Taj Muhammad Wassan, the two suspects had robbed a woman of her purse in the vicinity before holding up the police commando at gunpoint.
“The robbers wanted to take the commando’s motorcycle and cell phone. However, the officer was carrying his licensed weapon and opened fire at them when they drove off,” said Wassan.
While one of the robbers – identified as Moeen, a resident of Liaquatabad – was fatally injured, the other, Sohail, took refuge in a house in the locality. Two police mobiles reached the scene and managed to arrest Sohail.
Moeen’s body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) and the police claimed to have recovered a TT pistol, a motorcycle and looted articles from Sohail’s possession.
