Karachi: The Sindh government will transfer the murder case of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri to a military court after the provincial apex committee, which was formed to implement the National Action Plan, green-lit the decision.

The anti-terrorism court hearing the murder case against two alleged Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorists – Ishaq, alias Bobby, and Asim, alias Capri – was informed on Thursday that the two men would now be tried by a military court.

Bobby and Capri have not been brought to the court despite recurring orders because, according to the prison authorities, the suspects – also accused of murdering paramilitary soldiers and Military Police personnel – were “dangerous” and producing them in court would be a “security risk”.

A report submitted by the prison authorities informed the court that since the two men were involved in high-profile murder cases, they should be tried inside the prison.

Besides being accused of killing Sabri, four paramilitary soldiers and two MP personnel, Bobby and Capri are also suspected of being involved in the murder of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Waqar Shah.

During their preliminary interrogation, they are believed to have admitted to their involvement in 20 target killings, including an attack on a Shia gathering and another on policemen deployed to protect a polio vaccination team.
