Urinary tract infections among children

There are things parents can do to help prevent urinary tract infections among children.

* Encourage your child to use the bathroom regularly.
* If your child doesn’t urinate frequently, offer more fluids.
* Make sure your child knows how to properly wash after using the bathroom.
* Dress your child in cotton underwear and loosely fitted clothing.
