Nawaz must bring substitute before SC decision: Shah
ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said it would be better for Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to step down before the Supreme Court decision. “The prime minister is facing a critical political situation and it will be better for him to bring his substitute before the situation becomes worse,” he said while talking to newsmen in his chamber at the Parliament House. He said whenever there was a threat to democracy and parliament, the PPP was at the frontline to safeguard democracy and parliament, but now it was the responsibility of Nawaz Sharif to show courage and give sacrifice for democracy.
“Timing is always important in politics, and Nawaz Sharif should now take a better decision while sensing the political situation,” he added. To a question, he made it clear that parties in the opposition alliance were free to make their policies. However, he cautioned those parties which would support Nawaz Sharif, stating that they will face political loss. To a question, he said Imran Khan used to level allegations against Nawaz Sharif and now the PML-N was leveling the same allegations against Imran and that’s why Imran will also face the consequences.
Answering a question about ‘Iqama’ (work permit) holders, the opposition leader said it was not a crime to have one but it was a crime to hide it.To another question, Khursheed Shah said despite the fact that Pakistan had sacrificed the lives of over 60,000 civilians and law-enforcement agencies personnel in the war against terrorism, the world was still accusing it, which was a failure of the foreign policy. He said efforts to weaken the state and its institutions were dangerous and should be avoided.
