Girls outshine boys in SSC annual exam

The girl students living up to their standard of intelligence and competency once again outshone boys by attaining all top positions in the Secondary School Certificate Annual Examination, 2017 of the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Rawalpindi.

According to the result announced, Amber Liaquat Chaudhry (Roll No 878489) of Radiant Secondary School for Girls, Iqbal Town, near Kuri Road, Rawalpindi achieved the overall first position in the annual examination by achieving 1082 marks.

The 2nd position was grabbed by Maryam Khalid (Roll No.847216) of Winnington High School (Girls, ICI Khewra, Jhelum by securing 1079 marks. The third position was equally shared by four girls from different educational institutions. All these four students got 1077 numbers in the board examination. They include Areeba Aslam, (Roll No 878431) of Radiant Secondary School for Girls, Iqbal Town, near Kuri Road, Rawalpindi, Um-e-Salma (Roll No 823100) of Fauji Foundation Model Secondary School for Girls, Jhatla, Chakwal, Rameesa Wajid, (Roll No 826877) of District Public School for Girls, District Complex, Chakwal and Memoona Afzal (Roll No 877078) of Siddeeq Public School for Girls, Asghar Mall Road, Rawalpindi.

In all 122,515 candidates were enrolled out of which 68,097 were male and 54,418 were female students. The overall pass percentage remained 77.72 per cent.  Provincial Minister for Housing and Works, Tanvir Aslam Chaudhry, graced the occasion as chief who after announcement of the result distributed certificates among the top position holders.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister congratulated the girls as well as their parents and teachers who got top positions in the board examination. He advised them to continue to work hard for achieving similar top positions in future as well. He also asked the students who failed in examination not to be discouraged and depressed but start working hard to pass in the next attempts.

The provincial minister praised the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif for initiating and enforcing effective steps for promotion of education which also include award of scholarships to the students who achieve distinctions in their examinations besides sending them abroad for visits.
