Body to finalise participation in Urumqi fair

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Trade Sheikh Alla-ud-Din has said that China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade fair, a trading platform linking China with southern central and western Asian countries, can promote Pakistani items all over the world.

Presiding over a meeting on Monday, the provincial minister constituted a committee to make sure participating in Urumqi fair exhibition.

The minister said China-Eurasia Expo is a five-day event being held from 24th to 28th of August at the China Xinjiang International Exhibition Centre in Urumqi, China. This event showcases products like jewellery and jade articles, machinery & equipment, small machines, packaging machines, textile processing, food processing and hardware tools, engineering machinery & vehicles, agriculture machinery and equipment, textile and garments, agriculture products and food and much more etc.

The minister said the fair will also contribute to further economic cooperation between central and western Asian nations. He said the fair has become a bridge linking China and the rest of the world, especially Central, West and South Asia as well as a major window open to the West in economic trade, and has boosted regional economic cooperation and development. It can be said to have witnessed the constant development of China’s opening up to the West, have made Xinjiang a business logistics centre linking Asia and Europe, and have reproduced the spectacular view of merchant gathering in Urumqi, known as a famous ancient city on the Silk Road.

He directed all departments concerned to make a detail list of those products which can be promoted to attract other nations. He also nominated Afreen Hussain as focal person from PBIT.
