This refers to the news report, ‘Four cleaners suffocate to death in chemical factory’s boiler’ (Jul 21). The unfortunate incident that claimed the lives of four workers could have been avoided, had the factory adopted proper safety measures. It is observed that these cleaners clean underground tanks without wearing safety equipment. It is the responsibility of factories and even third-party vendors that recruit cleaners to ensure the safety of workers. In our country, everyone wants to be absolved of any crime.
According to the report, the boiler hadn’t been cleaned since its installation. This shows the height of carelessness of officials of factory owners. To avoid these incidents to happen in the future, all factors must ensure the safety of workers.
