Honour killing suspected as attack leaves husband dead, wife injured

A 25-year-old man was shot dead while his wife sustained bullet wounds when unidentified men opened fire on them inside their SITE Area house on Saturday.

SHO SITE Area Ashraf Mughal said the couple belonged to the Malakand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. 

When a police team attended the scene, Arshad Khan was found dead while his wife, Shabina, was lying injured in the house situated at the Mastaan Chali area near the Valika Hospital, the SHO said.

“Their one-year-old daughter, fortunately, remained unhurt during the attack,” he added.  Police officials moved the body and the injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities, he said.

SHO Mughal suspected honour killing, saying the couple had contracted love marriage. He said Shabina’s relatives could be behind the attack on the couple.  “Police will record the woman’s statement once her health condition becomes stable,” he added.
