Islamabad: A civil court of Islamabad will start contempt of court proceedings against the Islamabad Mayor and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz and sports officer, Chaudhry Muhammad Shahzad, on July 22.
An application to start contempt of court proceedings against the Islamabad mayor and his subordinate sports officer was filed with Civil Judge Malik Naseer Kakar by National Cricket Club President Shabbir Ahmad for not obeying orders of the court.
In his application, Shabbir Ahmad, said the court had restrained the Capital Development Authority from taking over possession of the National Cricket Ground in Sector F-7 from the National Cricket Club.
He said that not only that Chaudhry Shahzad, Abid Kiani who according to the applicant is business partner of the CDA chairman and his son Omer Kiani not only misbehaved with staff of the National Cricket Ground and also refused to court’s orders.
He said that bailiff of the court also visited site and reported back. “The statements recorded during the visit show that the CDA staff was aware of stay orders of the court which were not obeyed,” he said.
He said it was evident from statements that the respondents and Capital Development Authority authorities were aware of the court’s orders and they deliberately did not allow the applicant and his club players to use the ground which tantamount to contempt of the court. “They are wilfully not violating court’s orders,” he said.
