60 drugstores face action over violations

LAHORE: District Quality Control Board recommended action against 60 drug stores while warning was issued to 19 stores for minor violations.

The decision was taken in the meeting of board held here Tuesday under the chairmanship of Lahore deputy commissioner. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Sundas Irshad, CEO Health Authority, Lahore Dr Saeed and District Quality Control Board members. 

Officials said 94 cases of medical stores were brought under discussion in the meeting and Lahore DC Sumair Ahmed Syed listened to point of view of store owners and drug inspectors who had taken action over violations.

Later on, after thorough inspection of each case, the DC referred 60 cases for further prosecution while he issued warning to 19 store owners over minor violations, directing them to be careful in future. 

He adjourned 10 cases and referred one medical store case to Punjab Quality Control Board. He dropped one case due to the absence of the store management. Collectively, he has disposed of 81 cases while remaining cases will be decided in the next meeting of District Quality Control Board.

uplift schemes: The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party approved two development schemes of energy and health sectors at an estimated cost of Rs 9.46 billion. The schemes were approved in the fourth meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of the current fiscal year presided over by P&D Chairman Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan. 

The approved development schemes are: Khadim-e-Punjab Ujaala Programme (South Punjab) at a cost of Rs 8.96 billion and Establishment of Regional Blood Centre in Faisalabad and Upgradation of Existing Blood Units, Mayo and General Hospitals, Lahore, with assistance of KFW at a cost of Rs 492.83 million.
