PTI winning people’s support: KP CM

NOWSHERA: The Nowshera district saw an increase in political activities  last week as a number of workers quit three parties and joined the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Public meetings were arranged at various areas to welcome the new entrants to the PTI. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak addressed the gatherings where he presented PTI caps to the newcomers.

The first public meeting was arranged at the Gandheri where a local leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Niaz Ali Khan, left the party and announced joining the PTI along with his relatives, friends and supporters.

At another public meeting held at Zando Banda of the district where a tehsil councillor, Malik Istaraj Khan, left his party, Jamaat-e-Islami along with his supporters and joined the PTI. Muhammad Khan quit the Awami National Party along with his family members and joined the ruling party. Nazir Khan from the PML-N pledged support to the PTI as well.

KP Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel, District Nazim Liaqat Khattak and Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak were present on the occasions. The new entrants in their speeches put trust in PTI leadership and resolved to work earnestly to further the party cause.

Speaking at the gatherings, the chief minsters ruled out snap polls and expressed the hope that elected assemblies would complete terms. He said there was no provision in the Constitution for an early election. Reiterating his party pledge to stamp out corruption, Pervez Khattak said it was time for the nation to struggle in unison against the menace.

The chief minister said people from various political parties were joining the PTI in droves that showed their confidence in this party and its leadership policies. Pervez Khattak hoped that the PTI would form government at the Centre and all the provinces after winning the next general election. He claimed PTI Chairman would get the prime minister slot as well.

The chief minister said the KP government had launched a number of development schemes in the province during the last four years. “But our priority is the change which is possible only through reforming the system,” he said and added that welfare of the poor was the focus of all our efforts.

Pervez Khattak enumerated the steps the PTI-led government had taken in the province to improve the situation. He said drastic changes were introduced in the health and education sectors.

He said that public sector hospitals in KP were now well-equipped and had the requisite staff.  He said pharmacy shops had been set up inside the government-run hospitals. “A total of 1.8 million people have been issued health cards and another one million will be provided the same in future to avail themselves of the free treatment facilities” he said while elaborating on his statement. He said people’s trust in the public sector schools had been restored after making changes to the education sector. He said English medium teaching had been introduced at the government-managed schools.
