‘Illiteracy cause of problems’
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said rapidly increasing population is causing serious social issues.
The ministers said promotion of education is essential for awareness in society. He said illiteracy is the cause of various problems and the future generations will also have to face its consequences. Khalil Tahir Sindhu said the health problems and child marriages are resulting in various social problems, marriage below the age of 18 is a crime, he added. The minister said parents should seek consent from their sons and daughters for the marriage so that they should not face emotional, health and financial problems. He said the media, NGOs, civil society and all segments will have to play their role for dealing with this issue. He stressed effective legislation against child marriages.
