The rain show goes on

Following the forecast of heavy rainfall in Karachi, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has declared a rain emergency in the city. In addition, the city’s mayor has withheld the holidays of the workers of the KMC department and ordered them that all necessary steps should be taken so that citizens do not face any problem.
While these measures are commendable, the mayor and the KMC have ignored chocked drains. They disrupt the flow of rainwater. Drains should be cleaned at the earliest to avert the risk of waterlogged streets. Relevant machinery should be made available to get rid of standing water.
