Gunman killed in Lakki Marwat encounter
LAKKI MARWAT: An armed man was killed in an encounter with police in Kherukhel Pakka locality, bordering frontier tribal region on Tuesday.
An official said that a police party of Ghaznikhel police station headed by station house officer Asmatullah Khan came under attack when it started ringing the hideout of the outlaws in the village.
“Police returned the fire as a result of which a man identified as Nadeem was killed,” he maintained, saying that the cops also arrested two suspects and seized an AK-47 assault rifle, two magazine and bullets from the place.
He said that the deceased Nadeem was the member of a criminals’ gang and his accomplices wanted by police in different cases escaped taking the cover of firing. “The law enforcers launched a search operation in the border area to bring the fleeing criminals into clutches of law,” he added.
Separately, police arrested seven proclaimed offenders during surprise raids in different parts of the district.“The raids were carried out following information about the presence of wanted criminals in the area,” said an official.
