KP govt to establish international standard 100 high schools by June

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to establish 100 high schools in accordance with international standards by June this year.
An official handout said the decision was made at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, Minister for Higher Education and Information Mushtaq Ghani, Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan and officials of education, health and finance departments attended the meeting.
The handout said Rs2 billion would be released to undertake this project.
Pervez Khattak ordered the construction of 100 schools and the immediate release of funds for the purpose. He said the project should be completed on time to provide quality education to the students.
He approved the release of Rs500 million each for raising boundary walls and buying furniture for the existing primary and high schools in the province.
The chief minister said that the availability of funds would be ensured to make the schools operational.
The meeting also reviewed the steps taken for the foolproof security of schools, colleges and universities in the province. It was also decided to establish and streamline independent monitoring units for checking attendance and facilities in hospitals and other health centres to ensure better healthcare to the people in the remote parts of the province.
The government has decided to give autonomy to all the divisional headquarters hospitals and upgrade the district headquarters hospitals to the teaching status.
The communiqué said the government would appoint members of the board of governors on emergency basis and has fixed February 15 as deadline for the purpose. It was also decided to start double shift of doctors and paramedical staff in the Basic Health Units and Rural Health Centres.
