Sector G-7 suffering from severe gas crisis

The residents of sector G-7/3-4 have been facing severe shortage of gas since start of the winter season.
A resident of the sector which comprises government quarters said that his children have to go to school, almost daily without breakfast whereas he takes his tea on reaching the office.
The residents feel that they are experiencing very low gas pressure due to incomplete work on laying a gas pipeline from across to link it with the main pipe across the Jinnah Avenue. The work could not be completed due to ongoing Metro Bus Project.
One of the residents said that they also experienced the same problem during the last winter season.
However, an official of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) when contacted by 'The News' said they are not getting the required gas pressure to meet demand of consumers in the sector.
SNGPL General Manager Ejaz Chaudhry said despite adverse situation, they would try to address hardship of residents of Sector G-7/3-4.
The official at the same time complained that illegal use of compressor by the domestic consumers is on the rise. "The consumers using compressors create problems for their neighbourhood as they suck gas from the pipelines even when there is very low pressure," he said.
Ejaz Chaudhry informed that during the ongoing winter season, the SNGPL teams have removed compressors being used by domestic consumers. "We also disconnected connections of such consumers and called them to SNGPL office give them a warning," he said adding they also need cooperation from consumers who should also refrain from heaters so that proper gas supply could be provided.
