Cant Registry Branch disregards Punjab CM orders
Rawalpindi: Although, chief minister Punjab has directed local management to immediately resolve public related issues on priority basis, it has gone almost unheeded by the bosses here. The protesters have therefore decided to appear before Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to beg him to address their genuine grievances as city district government Rawalpindi is trying to shelter the corruption of Cantonment Registry Branch Kutchery. They are looting the clients with both hands.
Public is still deprived of 'One Window Operation' and there is no proper monitoring system here in cantonment registry branch either. The powerful 'corrupt mafia' is the only hurdle in bringing about any improvement in affairs.
They protesters allege that private touts prowl all around the kutchery. In fact they make deal with those who want to get their property registered. If the bargain is struck then it is all smooth sailing. But you have paid the price or illegal gratification which has gone to the pockets of corrupt officers. They have been looting the public and would not do even a lawful job without receiving illegal gratification. "We could not pay 'bribe' even for legal document registrations," many visitors said.
Rawalpindi Cant Sub-Registrar Mehar Ghulam Abbas who is continuously giving policy statement told 'The News' that he was strongly in favour of 'One Window Operation.' He said, “I am keenly monitoring all matters in order to nab the mafia and take strict action against them”.
He conceded that strict orders of CM Punjab are yet to be implemented. He however said that the odds were heavy and the corrupt mafia is trying to derail the system. The District Revenue Department (DRD) has miserably failed to provide relief to public.
The angry protesters have once again appealed to the chief minister Punjab to look into the matter immediately as 'corrupt mafia' is not only looting public but is also not registering even their genuine documents.
It is an open secret that the concerned registry 'moharir' of cantonment registry branch who has been working in the same position for the last of five years demands big amount as 'bribe' to register even a legal document.
An important officials of the city district government, Rawalpindi said on condition of anonymity that there was an under hand dealing of Cant Registry Branch Rawalpindi with other high ranking officials.
All other Registry Moharirs have been changed in all tehsils but Moharir of Cant Registry Branch is working here on the seat for five years, the official said.
Bashir Ahmed a resident of Saddar alleged that he has been continuously visiting the office for registration of land document but Cantonment Registry Branch Kutchery Revenue staff through private 'tout mafia' is demanding big amount as bribe. If I will pay bribe then my documents will be cleared otherwise not." He also alleged that officials from top to bottom are hand in glove in this matter.
It is worth mentioning that hundreds of affected clients strongly protested recently against Cant Registry Branch, Rawalpindi for four days but officials did not take any action against the corrupt mafia.
