SUKKUR: Calling for strengthened alertness at schools in Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki districts, the Commissioner of Sukkur Division, Muhammad Abbas Baloch, has directed the authorities to introduce biometric system at schools and added that boundary walls should be constructed, including placing of barbed wires, in schools with large enrolments.
This was stated by him at a meeting at his office regarding issue of ghost teachers, closed schools, security arrangements and education reforms throughout Sukkur division.
The commissioner directed the authorities concerned to remove all encroachments near schools and asked all the district and taluka education officers to submit up-to-date lists on ghost teachers and closed schools so that necessary action was taken in this regard.
In connection with education reforms, he directed all the District Education Officers (DEOs) to constitute District Education Committees (DECs) consisting of civil society, media, teachers, elected representatives and assistant commissioners, and complaints be heard by DECs from the general public and also redressed at the earliest.
