ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the incident of oil tanker fire in Ahmedpur Sharqia has saddened the nation a day before Eid and the government cannot deal with such a grave tragedy alone.

Talking to state run TV on Sunday afternoon, she said that all government and military institutions were playing their due role for relief and rescue operations.  She said that CM Punjab was himself monitoring the operations and he also announced 20 lakh rupees for heirs of every deceased person while 10 lakh will be given to all injured.

To a question, she said political parties should avoid issuing political statements and use their available resources for rescue operations and relief.

Marriyum said that if anyone is found responsible for the oil tanker accident, he would be brought to justice. Earlier talking to a private news channel, Marriyum said the entire nation is saddened by the tragic incident.

She urged the media to observe more care while broadcasting sensitive and graphic footages. The minister said it was the media’s job to disseminate information to the public and that everyone respects the duties that channels have to shoulder.
