In the wake of terrorist attacks across Pakistan and a tragic accident in Bahawalpur, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday called for people to keep their celebrations simple in solidarity with those in mourning as he greeted Muslims all over the world on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
"I wish to felicitate Muslims throughout the world in general and of Pakistan in particular on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr." The pursuit of values such as tolerance, humility and shunning evil as ordained during the month of Ramazan should not end as we mark the end of this holy month, Bilawal observed.
“Instead it should be an occasion to pledge to abide by these values throughout the year,” the PPP chairman added. “Evil has reared its ugly head in different forms at different times in history. During our time it has reared its head in the form of religious bigotry and exploitation of the people in the name of religion,” he said.
“We need to stand together in the fight to finish religious extremists who force upon people their bigoted interpretations of religious thought; we also need to fight together against those who exploit religion for their own ends.”
On this occasion let us also remember the destitute and less fortunate and all those who have laid down their lives in the fight against militancy for the sake of peace in the country, Bilawal added. “May the blessings of Ramazan that has just ended, remain with all of you for the whole year.”
