The government’s decision to provide huge subsidies on items of daily use – such as sugar, flour and cooking oil – in the holy month of Ramazan to help the poor is commendable. While this is a positive step, the government should also shift its focus towards the unintended consequences of this decision.
A large number of bazaars have been established along various major arteries. As a result, many of these roads are blocked for several hours during Ramazan. This has inconvenienced those who frequently take these routes. The government should take notice of this problem and ensures that these bazaars are established in specific places to avoid traffic congestion and ensure convenience.
