Asks what accountability Nawaz has faced

QUETTA: Pakisan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the Sharif family had always done politics while sitting in the cradle of establishment, adding that the nation had seen the real face of the Sharif family.

The nation will not be fooled by their promises now, he added. The PPP chairman said this while addressing his party members at an Iftar party held at the residence of PPP-Balochistan Chapter President Haji Ali Madad Jattak.

Bilawal said that the Sharif brothers did not face accountability in the Musharraf era. However, they wrote an apology note and fled the country. While referring to Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal said that the Bhutto family had faced trials, executions. He questioned, “What have you faced so far?” The PPP chairman said that Nawaz could be seen panicking after being interviewed by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). He added that the stage for politics of lies and revenge was set.

Bilawal said that the federal government was pressurising the institutions to save themselves from the investigation of the JIT. He further said that the leaders were worried about saving the money that they had looted from the people of Pakistan. However, he added the PPP was firmly standing with the people of Pakistan to fight against such leaders.

Bilawal claimed that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was Asif Ali Zardari’s vision. He also said that foreign agencies had started a proxy war in Balochistan and terrorism had spread on the basis of ethnic grounds.

The PPP chairman said that development was taking place in some other areas on the basis of Balochistan’s resources. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and policymakers had not learnt anything from the past, he added.

He said that the Sharifs kept a handful of ‘Sardars’ in the government for their own good. Resultantly, the youths of Balochistan were deprived of their rights and became rebellious, he added.

“Dictator Pervez Musharraf had not only harmed Balochistan, but also the other provinces,” Bilawal said. He also added that India was clearly intervening in the matters of Balochistan and the proof of their interference had also been found.

He said that the spies of India were openly caught in Pakistan. Bilawal questioned leaders: “How will the people get their rights in the presence of extreme poverty and terrorism?”

He said security forces were playing a pivotal role in curbing the menace of terrorism from Pakistan. However, he lamented that the government was not playing its part. He also condemned the government for burying the National Action Plan.

“Nawaz Sharif makes tall claims of success every day, but the people of Balochistan are questioning these claims of success. The people of Balochistan  are saying that they have only got hunger, poverty and escalating loans in Balochistan. Where is the development being made?” Bilawal said.

He said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had taken the feudal lords to task. He said that Bhutto had also given rights to the poor. “Did Mian Sahab spend 12 years in the jails?” he questioned. We have also given accounts for our grave, he added.

Bilawal said that it was the sacrifice of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto which strengthened democracy and reiterated that democracy was the best revenge.

In his message on Benazir Bhutto’s 64th birthday anniversary on Tuesday, the PPP chairman said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto lived and laid down her life for the cause of downtrodden people while fighting tyranny.
