FBR to observe extended working hours
KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed its offices to observe extended hours before and after Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in order to ensure maximum revenue collection for the current fiscal year.
In an office order circulated to all Inland Revenue offices in the country, the FBR directed that all IR offices will observe extended working hours on June 22, 23, 29 and 30.
The federal government has announced public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr from June 26 to 28. Therefore, the officers of IR will stay at the office till 9:00pm and 11:00pm on June 22 and 23, respectively.
The offices of IR will also observe extended working hours till 10:00pm and 12:00 midnight on June 29 and 30, respectively, it added.
The FBR has directed chief commissioners of IR to establish liaison with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and authorised branches of the National Bank of Pakistan to ensure transfer of tax collection by these branches before or on June 30, 2017 to the respective offices of the SBP on the same date so as to account for the same towards the collection for the month of June 2017.
